History Every place has its history. Discover all the events that have marked this place here.
A Rich History Since 1953
LunEur, the oldest amusement park in Italy, was established in 1953 thanks to the initiative of a few enthusiasts such as Adalberto Mirabito, Antonio Frezzato, and the maternal grandparents of the Roman actress Virginia Raffaele, all circus artists and ride owners. This park, named after the EUR neighborhood (Universal Exhibition of Rome), has undergone numerous changes over the years. In 2008, it was fully renovated by the company Luneur Park SpA after being under new management.
A Location in the Heart of Rome
The park spans an area of 68,000 m² on via delle Tre Fontane, near Parco degli Eucalipti, a vast forest planted in the 19th century by the Trappist monks of the Tre Fontane Abbey. Initially created for the Universal Exhibition of Rome in 1953, the park was so successful that it was later expanded and transformed into a permanent amusement park.
An Anticipated Revival
In the late 80s and 90s, LunEur experienced its golden age before gradually losing its appeal and innovation. In 2007, the EUR company, the owner of the land, launched a tender to renovate and revive the park with international standards. Cinecittà Entertainment, through NewCo Luneur Park, won the tender in February 2008, giving a new impetus to the park. However, the modernization works could only start in January 2016 due to various complications. Finally, Luneur Park reopened on October 27, 2016, with a special focus on children aged 0 to 12 and their families.
An Enchanting Experience for All
Since its reopening, Luneur Park has experienced tremendous success, attracting many visitors from the beginning. The park's attractions, including rides, games, trails, workshops, and cinema, offer a diverse experience for all tastes. A total of 21 million euros was invested in the reopening and modernization of Luneur Park, demonstrating a commitment to quality entertainment. As the park's mascot, Luna, an owl, embodies the enchanting spirit that prevails in these grounds.
